This is a lightly-edited version of the of the TMG chat session held 26 Feb 2005 (#2).

Bob_VelkeWell, I guess it is time to start. Who has a question?
LindaAZIs TMG compatible with an assistance program named Jaws (for sight-impaired persons)
ExcaliburIt looked like the earlier chat today centered around "preps"
Bob_Velkeno idea, Linda.
nikkinzhow is having access to relationship names coming up the list?
darrellmBob: I'm going to be posting a summary of my thoughts on prepositions to TMG-L a bit later.
Bob_Velkein what context, Nikki?
Bob_Velkeok, Darrell.
nikkinzfor output in SS after the narrative it lists the children of xx and yy using primary names, I want to be able to select which name to use
Bob_VelkeHow/where do you want to specify which name(s) to use?
nikkinzthen of course in list of reports to use tag name rather than primary name
Bob_VelkeList of reports wouldn't care about a _relationship_, of course.
nikkinzIf we could select the name on the relationship tag like event tags
nikkinzthen I would have to convince John to allow it in SS :)
Betty_LouHas anyone brought up that F7 for the memo does not put the curser into the memo to start typing?
ExcaliburI'd just like to say that I've entered about 500 new people in TMG since V6.0 was released and with one or two minor "annoyances" I haven't had a single problem -- heck, I don't even remember what the "annoyance" were ... well done on the release folks :-)
nikkinzat present my SS output looks like they married one person using event name but had children by another using primary name due to adoptions
Bob_VelkeF7 to get the larger memo window, Betty Lou?
Bob_VelkeThanks, Excalibur. Glad to hear it. There are some bugs, of course, and we're working on v6.01.
Betty_LouYes, I have to click with the mouse to place the curser into the memo
AllenMnikkinz:Why can't you use the primary name for that purpose?
Bob_VelkeIt works in the current beta, Betty Lou, so I guess it's fixed.
Betty_LouThanks
TerryRBetty_Lou: That issue has been reported.
nikkinzthey have changed their surnames
Bob_Velkebut at what moment in time is the relationship name supposed to capture?
Carol_SI have to do genealogy off-and-on....my husband, kids, and boss seem to think they should have some of my time. Anyway, I got 5.xx and kept updating, but never really used it, other than to look up things sometimes. I have done LOTS in 6.0, though, and I LOVE it. Very smooth, very easy, nice features. Thanks, Bob and crew.
Bob_VelkeThanks, Carol.
nikkinzthe name they are using at the time ie when they have the children that relationship shows their legal name
deliarobertsonHi Bob and all, way behind with the hellos . . . was busy feeding my dogs.
ExcaliburHi delia
Bob_Velkewhat if the mother's name is Liz in one relationship tag and Elizabeth on another, Nikki?
AllenMnikkinz: Which report do you mean?
Bob_VelkeWhile Nikki is thinking that through, does someone else have a question?
ExcaliburTerry ... does your site have a page of some of the more "common filters" other than the examples in TMG? Filters that many of us wonder about, but that the "heavy hitters" have mastered?
TerryRNo, I've got only a little on people filters.
AllenMExcalibur, do you have GMOOTMG?
Bob_VelkeAre you folks using the new Query By Example screen and what do you think of it?
ExcaliburOK Terry ... that might be something for the um-m-m-m future :-)
ExcaliburNo Allen ... it would probably help if I did, but I just haven't gotten it yet.
nikkinzI am talking about John Doe married Jane Adams then after the narrative it lists the children of John Doe and Elizabeth Hunt. in Johns narrative it looks like 2 people when Elizabeth Hunt legally is Jane
Bob_VelkeI understand that, Nikki. Do you understand my question?
darrellmBob: Have tried QBE a couple times, and it didn't seem to have the flexibility I needed right then.
nikkinzyes to me Liz is short for Elizabeth and I dont worry about that
ExcaliburI've used the QBE a couple times Bob ... sometimes it is very, very easy to use and that's the way to go; other times it just doesn't fit the bill with flexibility and have to go to the manyal method.
darrellmBob: QBE seemed to be potentially useful, and there wasn't anything in particular that I saw as a problem.
nikkinzI wouldnt enter seperate names then
Bob_Velkesigh
TerryR<g> Excalibur: Just what I need - another idea to write about.
ExcaliburHA HA HA ... Terry :-)
Bob_VelkeSo people shouldn't be _allowed_ to use different names in the relationship tags with her children?
deliarobertsonBob: I was playing about with a book in my genealogy project (which is English Uk)and some of the report options were duplicated in Afrikaans. Also periodically have some labels etc. pop up in Afrikaans. My Afrikaans translation project is entirely separate from my own genealogy project. Any thoughts.
George_BWOW! I just got kicked off to the TMG Cruise page!
nikkinzif you give us the opotion they could if they wanted, I wouldnt
Bob_VelkeExcalibur, it isn't meant to do everything, of course.
Bob_VelkeAnd if they do, Nikki, how would your new feature deal with it?
George_BBob_Velke: Is there a way to print a single FGS when a person has multiple wives? It would be nice to have it ask "Which spouse?" to keep from having to print multiple FGS sheets when only one is needed to be update.
Bob_VelkeIt is just a static page, George. It can't kick anyone. Did something happen with your browser?
ExcaliburVery true Bob and that's what good about it ... use the "easy" way when I can and then go to the "down and dirty" method when it doesn't fit the bill ... it's an option I'm glad to see :-)
Kevin_SholderDarrell, what is QBE?
darrellmdelia: This is something I've heard about related to the Language feature.
George_BBob_Velke: Don't know. Just reading the chats when the Cruise page came up and I had to log back on.
nikkinzthe same way as event tags, its optional to use another name than the primary name. If they really want the output split by eachvariation. But thee point is like event tags it would be optional
darrellmKevin: Query by Example.
GenerationBob, Would it be possible to have the List of Repositories sort by abbreviation, yet print the entire place record.
bgremplerGeorge_B, maybe just a hint to join us on the cruise.
Kevin_SholderOK, just hadn't seen that before, I've not yet tried it, but it should be very useful to those of us (me included) that are filter challanged.
darrellmCruise: Don't I wish!!!
deliarobertsonI second Theresa's request of on List of Repositories.
Bob_Velke:( George, no except to temporarily unlink the other spouse
George_BBob_Velke: Can that be a wish list item?
George_Bbgrempler: Sorry, I don't do boats!
KathrynBassettBob, I second George's request to ask which wife when printing FGS
Bob_VelkeNikki, my point is that the sentence in question refers to each parent once - but in the way you've proposed the feature, they could each have multiple names associated with their relationship tags with various children. How will TMG know which one to use?
KathrynBassettI have one guy with four wives. I only need to print him out with wife #2
Betty_LouBob, Query by Example will be a great topic for my next users meeting
Bob_VelkeGeorge/Kathryn, if you print FGSs for everyone at once, do you want to be prompted for each person who has more than one spouse?
George_BKatrynBassett: My problem guy had three, but only two had children, so the third sheet is complete and NEVER needs to be reprinted.
KathrynBassettIn most cases, yes
deliarobertsonDarrell: Mine only happens with Afrikaans . . . I wonder if its related to other language options the user selects from time to time?
KathrynBassettFor instance, if I'm doing FGS for all ancestors, I want only wife 2 to print
George_BBob_Velke: Not necessarily. In that case I WOULD want all of them. But, if I choose one subject and want to print only, say, one of three wives' sheets, then I would like the choice.
KathrynBassettI have several ancestors with multiple marriages
darrellmdelia: I believe it is simply because Afrikaans is first alphabetically. I do think other language selections matter.
darrellmdelia: I believe the occurrence is rare, though....
George_BBob_Velke: But, I never print sheets that way. I always print one for a specific purpose like to update it for my records, or to send to a realtive asking for information.
CheriMI have a multiple marriage question. Please let me know when to go ahead.
bgremplerCheriM, never wait - just jum right in
darrellmCheriM: Dive in.
KathrynBassettGeorge, me too. I was giving an example of when I wouldn't mind answering the question repeatedly, in order to have the question asked on an individual basis.
Bob_VelkeGeneration, I'll put the Repository thing on the wish list.
nikkinzthere would still only be one name per relationship tag selected whether it is the primary name or the one selected to use. I understand if variations were used you would get 2 groupings like 2 marriages but as its optional we could control this
GenerationThanks!
GenerationNiki
GenerationLike Bob and Sara Ann had the following children:
KathrynBassett95%% of the time, I'm doing individual FGS
George_BKathrynBassett: Gotcha!
CheriMI went to Terry R's site and printed out his thing on multiple marr. I figured out how to make a new tag and did that. But now, the marraiges never print out on the Journal report. I was forewarned this would happen and it did. Now what?
AllenMGeorge/Kathryn, ca'nt you print to screen and then print to paper only the page you want?
GenerationThen Bob and June had the following: (although June and Sarah Ann are the same person?)
bgremplerIf I need only one marriage, I'll print the FGS to the screen, move to the correct spouse and then use the print current page icon
KathrynBassettShouldn't have to go thru the extra steps
George_BKathrynBassett: Mine is closer to 100%% now.
Bob_VelkeNikki, in her relationship to Child#1, she could use Jane. In her relationship to Child#2, she could use Elizabeth. You want those two children in separate lists because their mother's selected name is different?
TerryRCheriM: You made a new tag in the Marriage group?
LornaMPrint to screen and then print doesn't give you the chance to manipulate the data for the (now getting rarer) times you want to edit the data before printing
George_BAllenM: Haven't tried that, but it might work. But, with all of the options and choices in TMG, what's one more little one?
Bob_VelkeNot going through the extra steps means adding an option that everyone has to deal with, Kathryn.
Kevin_SholderBob, for REpositories, is there a way to print a list of the "references" linked to a repository? For example a cemetery is the repository, I'd like to be able to print a list of all sources and refences attached to them.
KathrynBassettbesides, sometimes I forget there is more than one spouse, til I tell it to print and it keeps printing pages because of the multiple wives
CheriMTerry- I went to the + Tag, clicked on Add, clicked the radio button for marriage, called it Marriage1 (and Marriage2, etc), copy and pasted your sentences/coding into the Role/Sent tab (the 2nd tab.
nikkinzYes Bob that would be the result if they selected that option
AllenMLorna, but if you manipulate the data in a word processor, you can still pirint selected pages.
TerryRCheriM: its doesn't have to be a separate tag type - I made those changes to the exiting marriage tag type.
CheriMTerry==and when I went to change the marriage to M1 and M2, yes, it was in the Marriage group. I no longer saw all tags. Just mar. ones.
KathrynBassettBob, you couldn't set up preference to ask or not ask? FR had that (sorry to bring up a dos program, I know TMG is a lot more complicated, but...)
Bob_VelkeSo John and Jane had two children but John and Elizabeth (who is the same person) had this one, Nikki?
TerryRCheriM: If it doesn't print, I'd guess you are printing Selected tag types in the report, and haven't added the new one to the list.
George_BKathrynBassett: I used FR (Quinsept), too, and that is where I got hooked on it.
Bob_VelkeI didn't say that I couldn't do it, Kathryn. But the feature design has to account for how everyone uses it. Answering that you don't use the feature a certain way doesn't help me overcome the question.
nikkinzIn my case I would select John and Elizabeth (Jane being her primary name) for all children, but I understand what you say could happen if they selected to use that option
George_BAllenM: I do not want to have to use a WP just to print out a FGS.
TerryRCheriM: Sounds like you made separate tag types for 1st, 2nd, 3rd - they should be roles in a single tag type.
CheriMTerry--Oh duh! That's right. I was having 3rd grade sentences with my resided tag and so I checked only some of the tags (the ones I use). OK, I'll go in and reset that. Thanks.
KathrynBassettI would imagine that there a a lot of people who would be grateful for it, even though it might not be something they'd *ask* for.
Bob_VelkeThat's not my point, Kathryn.
George_BBob_Velke: How about this. If one is asking for a series of sheets to be printed, ask if they want to include ALL spouses or ASK before printing. Then they can make the choice up front.
TerryRCheriM: By useing Roles rather than tag types, it can be his 2nd and her 1st, for example.
AllenMGeorge, I was answering a different question there. I always use print to screen for all of my "Working" reports.
KathrynBassettA "preference" that says "when printing FGS, ask for multiple spouses?" or some such wording.
George_BAllenM: OOPS! Getting cornfuzed here - sorry.
CheriMTerry--I don't think I'm using Roles (yet).
John_CBob_Velke: Maybe a "Show Last Used Spouse only" option?
ExcaliburCheri ... roles are wonderful!
CheriMTerry--Is the Roles thing on your web site? I only printed out mulitple marriages.
Bob_VelkeGeorge/Kathryn, I will consider it but I get a lot of flak from people for adding an option in order to save some people one or two clicks while complicating the program that much more for everyone else.
George_BBob_Velke: But what if I wanted to print just the 2nd wife to send to someone and the first wife was the last updated or used?
TerryRYes, the multiple marriage article is based on using roles.
LornaMJohn C - but that confuses the ? out of everyone who want to know why x and not y show up, and they'd forget to go and make the one they wanted the last used
CheriMExcalib--I'll get there eventually. I barely got my sources cleaned up and organized and figured out how to do most sentences.
George_BBob_Velke: Not saving us a couple of clicks - saving us ink and paper from printing FGS that we don't need printed.
John_CLornaM: They'd have to specify the *one* wife for people somehow. I'm not in favor of the option, but I realized that Last Used was already a capability of TMG
John_CAnd they'd get all unless they tick the option
Bob_VelkeAs was pointed out, George, you can print from the preview or from a word processor.
darrellmBob: I see a lot of value in offering a choice, where multiple marriages exist, to print all or selected. Paper and toner is the issue.
CheriMTerry--I'm confused. The title of the Roles article is "Using Roles to Manage Multiple Marriages?"
TerryRyes..
Bob_VelkeDoes someone else have a question?
George_BBob_Velke: By adding it up front in the printing process, one needs only to make ONE choice - print them all, if that is what they normally do, or ask me before printing multiple spouses. It will actually add clicks for me, but others can continue as usual with ONE click. Thanks for considering it.
deliarobertsonBob, did you see my question on Afrikaans popping up in my English UK project?
TerryRCheri - the idea is you add all the Roles to one tag. Then assign 1st to bride, 3rd to groom; 2nd to both, whatever's needed.
Bob_VelkeNo, Delia.
Kevin_SholderBob, for Repositories, is there a way to print a list of the "references" linked to a repository? For example a cemetery is the repository, I'd like to be able to print a list of all sources and refences attached to them.
Bob_Velkepopping up where?
GenerationWhen in the Research Task window, if I click on the source search window, if there is a source attached it takes me to that source in the MSL. Same thing happens if a repository is attached, it takes me to that repository in the MRL. But if I click on an attached event, it takes me to the MEL, but not to that specific event. Is this a bug? It^`2019s certainly irritating.
darrellmGeneration: I am similarly confused by what happens if I double-click an event in the MEL instead of using the "Edit" button.
CheriMTerry--OK, I think this is what I find confusing. In your article, in the 3rd paragraph, last sentence, you said you "added the following new roles." That's why I clicked the + button on the toolbar. Then I clicked on New Tag. I couldn't figure out where to start doing this process. So I got lost.
deliarobertsonBob, I am getting Afrikaans labels and report options in a book project even though my language is English UK and my Afrikaans translation project is entirely separate.
Bob_VelkeAre the references in the source template, Kevin? If so, you could print a filtered list of sources
darrellmGeneration: The result is I'm taken to a Person View instead of an Edit Tag view.
darrellmGeneration: It is *not* the same problem, but it is the same pattern, and it is at least puzzling.
Bob_VelkeI'll look into it, Generation (Teresa?). You could send me an email outlining it and that will help.
GenerationYup I can confirm that happens Darrell.
GenerationOkay Bob, yes it's Teresa
TerryRCheri - OK - got it. Don't create a new tag type - edit the existing one. On the Roles and Sentences tab, click New to add a new Role. Then define the sentence for it. Repeat until you have them all in that tag type.
Bob_VelkeDelia, the application language and the report language are both set to English UK?
GenerationSent that on about repository bug
deliarobertsonBob, Yes.
RobynDGotta go, thanks for your time Bob V
Kevin_SholderBob, Yes. What would I filter on?
deliarobertsonBob, and I should add . . . my Afrikaans translation project is NOT also open.
Bob_VelkeDunno, Delia. Are you seeing this on more than one report definition? Or are you using the Book Manager?
CheriMTerry-OK I wrote that down. I'll try that and I'll read up on Roles in the books.
TerryRCheriM: I see that that's not explained anywhere in the set of articles - I'll have to fix that.
CheriMTerry--OK, thanks.
GenerationKevin you can do a list of sources and filter for repository number = [?] But that doesn't give the CDs
deliarobertsonBob, I'm seeing the report options in Afrikaans when using the Book Manager. And the labels randomly.
Bob_VelkeKevin, filter on Repository Number = 4?
TerryRCheriM: You're welcome.
CheriMDoes anyone know what it is called when you do ^B (hot key?) which is really Ctrl B
CheriMTo get the birth window screen
Bob_Velke"what it is called"?
CheriMYes.
darrellmCheriM: Keyboard shortcut?
Bob_VelkeI don't know what you mean, Cheri.
bgremplerCheriM, a keyboard shortcut
Bob_Velkeoh
CheriMOK. Thanks.
Bob_VelkeDelia, send me an email, please so that I can try to replicate it. It is unrelated to the fact that you've got another project somewhere else.
bgrempler<g> darrellm, you must type faster then I do
deliarobertsonBob, OK will do.
darrellmbgrempler: I was forced to take typing in high school at a time when "boys didn't do that". A great move on my parents' part!
bgremplerbarrellm, best course I took also. Maybe it's the Italian dinner and wine I had earlier this evening
deliarobertsonBye all . . . off to walk the dogs.
CheriMWhen you do certain keyboard shortcuts (^B, ^M, ^D, ^U) the screen pops up. Very convienent (sp). I'd like to make one for divorces. Is there a way to add a keyboard shortcut for that?
GenerationIs there a way to attach more than one source, repository or event to a task?
bgremplerCheriM, add an icon to the toolbar
Carol_SCheri, when we are out of the chat and you try adding roles, feel free to send questions to TMG-L. No question is stupid and you will get lots of helpful suggestions and patient explanations without the confusion of several conversations going on at the same time. Well, OK, that last part is not true, but at least you can sort by subject and see the whole conversation together! :-)
LornaMCheriM: do you have a custom toolbar?
Bob_VelkeNo, Teresa. Maximum of one of each.
darrellm<g> bgrempler: Italian food and wine would slow down the speed of light, I think.
Kevin_SholderBob, OK, that should be simple enough.
CheriMLorna--we kinda dinked around with that in the Users Group I go to, but it really didn't take off. There's not a way to do ^I or something for divorces, huh?
nikkinzBob, have you ever looked at Bygones? I would love to integrate this instead of the research log
darrellmCheriM & Lorna: There are ways in Windows to create keyboard shortcuts. I would be careful about the effect on existing keyboard entries, though.
LornaMCheriM: not that I'm aware of, but the custom toolbar is great - pop all sorts of frequently used things on it and one click and they're done. And that's from someone who is usually a mouser
Bob_VelkeIt has been several years since I looked at Bygones, Nikki.
LornaMI mean a keyboarder (and I haven't had a meal and wine yet)
darrellmLornaM: Lack of blood sugar will do it too....
GenerationNiki, How would you use Bygones instead of research log?
CheriMLorna--OK. I just like doing my ^B, ^M thing. I don't have that many divorces, but since I found a few I now always go looking for them.
CheriMI'll look at my notes on doing the toolbar thing.
GenerationCheri,
Kevin_SholderBob, OK, that works, but it does not show the reference number? How do I see that piece of data?
GenerationUse the custom toolbar, you'll get hooked and then need a whole screen jst for it
nikkinzI use Bygones for all my research as keywords and limits of one person/event/source/repository dont work for me
LornaMTeresa, I think only you use the whole screen for your toolbar <g>
bgremplerCheri, Teresa is the icon ueen!
bgremplerthat's queen. (the wine again?)
GenerationNiki, Me either. Wish there was a way to link several tasks together
darrellmLornaM: I think Generation/Teresa is the living advertisement for dual screens. One for toolbar, one for current view....
CheriMGen--OK, but I'm not much into Tweaking things. I finally got brave enough to do the sentences. Before that, I just looked at what the sentence structure was and sat and thought about how I was going to make what I wanted to say fit into what the computer wanted.
nikkinzbut it would be nice to integrate them with the person id, crefs etc like we see with genbox or pocket genealogist
LornaMDarrell - can't get the hang of dual screens, make do with my laptop on a network sometimes, and even then get thoroughly confused about how to navigate <g>
GenerationCheri, that's okay, I tweak enough for the both of us.
CheriMMaybe I should have some of Barbara's wine and get real brave! LOL :)
GenerationLorna, I just prefer one really large one.
Kevin_SholderBob, I'd like a way to print out a list of the references that are attached to a repository. Sort of a catalog of that repository. Is this currently possible? Or am I barking up the wrong tree?
Bob_VelkeKevin, [REPOSITORY REFERENCE]
LornaMTeresa, yes I peaked at the screen shot, shuddered in horror about how on earth you find what you want on it, and went back to my dinosaur way of doing things
Kevin_Sholderyes REPOSITORY REFERENCE
ezzieI'd prefer to attach tasks to places.
TerryRBob V: There was a good discussion in the chat room this afternoon after that chat on managing long and short place names. A new feature was discusssed that may work better than my idea to use styles for that.
bgremplerCheriM, If you haven't done it yet, start a small test project. Experiment all you want without 'messing up' real data
Bob_VelkeThat's the variable name that you would use in the source template to get that reference to output, Kevin.
CheriMBarb--Or just use the backup.
Bob_VelkeI'll read the transcript, Terry.
TerryRGood - thanks. It's all there.
Kevin_SholderBob, but it is also a field that links a source to a repository.
CheriMBarbara--did you figure out what I did to that "resided" tag? I tried to restore it, but it didn't work.
GenerationKeven, I think if you do the list of sources, then use that as a list of citations that might work. not sure though
Bob_VelkeYes, Kevin. That's the name of the variable that outputs that field.
bgremplerCheri, Sorry, I haven't had a chance
Kevin_Sholdergeneration, how do you mean? I'm not very good with creating cascading reports to get the detail of what I may be looking for.
GenerationLorna, I have it divided by tag that are similar, and I know about where on the screen each type is located at.
CheriMOK, no problem then. Just wondering. It's not my database; it's a friend's and it's sort of at a standstill anyways (now watch...there will be a flood of mail on his lines!)
GenerationIf I understand you, you want a list of places where a source has been used that is attached to a certain repository.
CheriMGeneration--that's under Reports, then List of, then citations. Then you have to set it up, right?
darrellmlate: Is that a nickname or a question?
GenerationTo get a list of all sources attached to a certain repository, do a LIST OF SOURCES and filter for Repostiory Number = [?]
GenerationThen once you have the list of sources, you can do the list of citations attached to that source.
CheriMGen--it took a little bit, but I got that one!
ExcaliburTeresa ... have you given any thought to adding all of your Tags to your web site Tag page? I'm a firm believer in not having to reinvent the wheel :-)
GenerationI can send you a sentence file if you'd like Tom. SOme of them need cleaning up. <G>
ezzieAnd the web site will be how large?
George_BCan someone tell me how to "register" a screen name and get one of those little icons in front of my name?
LindaAZTime for me to go. Goodnight, everyone!
ExcaliburIt would be huge ezzie :-)
GenerationSome of the sentences are already on my website.
bgremplerGeorge, right click your name
bgremplerselect Member Profile
ExcaliburI just might take you up on that Teresa :-)
Kevin_SholderGeneration, wuold you be willing to do a step by step to the TMG list? I just don't get how to use multiple reports yet and haven't spent the time needed to learn that aspect of the application completely yet.
GenerationSend me an email and I'll send you that file. You can play with it and see if you want to use it.
darrellmGeorge_B: You have already registered "George_B". Click on the blue person with the page behind it. Click "Change Avatar".
ExcaliburOkie Doakie :-)
GenerationSure Kevin. I don't know if it will give you what you are looking for.
Bob_Velkesigh. Internet connection is getting flaky...
darrellmGeorge_B: I think if you want a different name you have to start over and sign up again.
Kevin_SholderGeneration, at this point it is worth a shot.
Kevin_SholderTHANK YOU
darrellmBob: Still snowing?
Bob_VelkeI'm going to have to go. Kevin or anyone else - if I didn't answer your question, then please write to bvelke@whollygenes.com.
Bob_VelkeNo, melting, thank goodness.
ExcaliburThanks Bob!
TerryRThanks, Bob.
ezzieThanks Bob
bgrempler<g> Bob, maybe you've spent to much time online and the connection is tired
Kevin_SholderBob, thank you for the input and time to "chat."
Betty_LouThanks Bob
darrellmBob: I'm almost done with that e-mail about prepositions. Thanks for the chat.
Bob_VelkeNight all. Stay as long as you like. There are many experts here who can help you.
Kevin_SholderDarrell, will you be sending that to the list or offlist?
Bob_VelkeLast one out turn off the lights.
coolgTeresa: I have a question about the Death Tag - on your site there is a Role for Widow, but on my Death Tag there is only the room at the top left for the Principal Role - do I need to create a different Tag to do Widows?
George_BAllenM: OOPS! Getting cornfuzed here - sorry.Thank
George_BThanks - got registered and my little icon.
Generationcoolg, No. Just go to the Master Tag List, and edit the current death tag and add a Widow role. You can then copy and paste the sentence from the website.
darrellmKevin: Both to the list and to Bob directly via cc.
GenerationWidows will always be witnesses.
TerryRCoolg: You click the drop-down that says "Principal" and you see the other roles that are in the tag.
GenerationThanks Bob, please keep the snow. <G>
Kevin_SholderCool, I'm sure it will be good reading.
darrellmTeresa: "Widows will always be witnesses" and willing to testify? Because they are busybodies? (Just struck me funny!)
TerryRSorry - coolg, death tags only have one principal, so as Teresa says, anyone else must be a Witness.
coolgOK - Teresa, I'll try that. TerryR - yup, I understand what you are saying, but that won't give me what I hope to achieve - I want it to show on a person's screen when their spouse died
LornaMcoolg; it will if you have your preferences set to show witnessed events
darrellmcoolg: You can choose to show witnessed events on the Person View.
coolgThanks Lorna - I do!
GenerationCoolG It will. Just go ahead and attach her as a witness and she will show up.
AllenMcoolg, do you have data entry set to advanced?
coolgGee - this is REALLY exciting - I have wanted to do this for ages, but not known how! Yes - Allen
GenerationShe won't show on HIS PV, his death tag will show on her PV.
LornaMcoolg: don't be shy, just ask on the tmg list, someone, probably many people, will help you do what you want too, somehow
darrellmcoolg & Teresa: The lack of the widow showing on the deceased's PV isn't so much of a problem, because the state of affairs is more obvious there.
GenerationYes Darrell, Widows will always testify to the death of their husbands. Just like women will always tell pregnant women about horrible labors.
darrellmTeresa: Yeah, I've heard that. In both senses....
coolgWoohoo! Just did it, and it worked perfectly! Just what I was after.
AllenM<g> Darrell, lets not start on witnesses
coolgThanks heaps!
GenerationI think between coolg and Cheri, I have created two new monsters. <G>
darrellmAllenM: So the answer to, "Can I get a witness" is no? Drat.
GenerationDarrell, love the bananas by the way. LOL"
DMBGeneration, not always. Our (only) child was a three hour labor.
AllenMDarrell, you can get too many witnesses.
darrellmTeresa: The choice almost made itself when I looked at the available avatars!
GenerationMine were short too, but that's not the way I tell it at baby showers. LOL
bgremplerOK, labor stories -- my last almost 17 years ago was 45 minutes
darrellmTeresa: Let's just say about my daughter's birth that it was so long a delivery nurse recognized ME, without my wife around, six years later.
ExcaliburLOL
DMBBaby showers are to be avoided in my book. Rather clean a barn.
bgremplerdarrell, ouch
darrellmbgrempler: That would be the word, ouch, yes....
coolgok - thanks everyone for your help! I'm off now!
darrellmDMB: I've done both. You are right.
AllenMGoodnight, all
darrellmNight, Allen.
nikkinzI have my death sentence modified so that for the principal it says predeceasing [rolename], so it shows for the principal as well as the witness role
BettyLouNight Night
LornaMBye, see you all in the list and forum..
DMBAnd since I've spent all day building corrals, I'm heading for my pillow, too (even though it's only 9:30 here in the Pacific Northwest)
darrellmAnything more TMG-ish to discuss? Otherwise, I'm about done. I was telling a joke about Scots here about two hours ago, or a little less.
darrellmBye until next time.
bgremplerI think we're winding down, darrell
