Rename Language changes all occurrences of language "A" in tag types, events, and names to language "B".

This feature was originally written to help Ultimate Family Tree (UFT) users to correct language names; UFT supports only ENGLISH, FRENCH, and GERMAN, so some users had used one of those for DUTCH or some other language. After converting to TMG, it doesn't make sense to keep using an incorrect language name.

It may also be useful in other cases.

Step by Step

  1. Choose Rename Language from the function tree.
  2. Choose the source language--language you want to rename--from the Choose a language: pull down list.
  3. Key the new language in the New language textbox.
  4. Click the [Rename Language] button.

The program will not allow you to rename to or from ENGLISH.

If you rename a language, all the sentences for the source language will be moved to the new language. The empty language will still appear in TMG's File > Languages menu; you must delete it from there manually.
