Description
Import Sentences reads a text file created using the Export Sentences function. It will copy the roles and sentences from a specific language in that file into a target language in the current open database.
Read other comments about languages, sentences, and roles on the Extra Sentence Help page.
Step by Step
- Choose Import Sentences from the function tree.
- Click the [Import a Language...] button.
- Navigate to the desired file using the standard file dialog, and click the [Open] button.
The program will open the text file and open the Import Language window. This window displays the name of the input file and the database from which it was made, as well as other controls.
- Choose the language to import from the Import FROM language: pull down list. The languages in the list are those that are defined in the text file.
- Choose the language to modify or create from the Import TO language: pull down list. The languages in the list are the standard TMG languages.
- Check or uncheck the Prompt before processing each tag checkbox, as desired. If checked, the program will ask you to confirm the processing of each tag as it is imported.
- Click the [Import Language] button.
Operation
The import file is processed on a tag by tag basis, and tag sentences are modified only when there is an exact match between the tag name in the import file and a tag name in the database. The utility does not create tags.
Before adding a new role, the program allows the user to change the role name to an existing role. This allows you to handle role-name differences that might occur between databases or languages.
