Lou Milner, president of the Brown Club, presents the plague emblematic of the baseball championship of the Interscholastic League to George Lovett, captain of the St. Raphael team, yesterday at Aldrich Field after the Saints defeated La Salle for the title. This is the story of the St. Raphael Academy Saints who won the 1951 Rhode Island Interscholastic League baseball championship. The Saints went 14-0 in the regular season, won the semi-final playoff series with Westerly High 2-1, and swept La Salle Academy 2-0 in the final series.

The site contains transcribed newspaper accounts of the games, as well as pictures scanned from the same papers. Each of the links on the left-hand side of this page lead to one or more stories about the given game.

This site is dedicated to George Lovett, the co-captain and star first baseman of the Saints. After graduating from St. Raphael, George went on to play football at Boston College. After graduating from BC, George and his wife Barbara raised a family in a small town north of Boston. He is now retired from the banking industry and lives by the ocean in Rhode Island.
